Announcing Rising Stars At Grotonwood!

We've been a little slow on the blog front these past couple weeks here are Rising Stars, and that's because we've been working really hard on this other cool new thing:

RISING STARS AT GROTONWOOD!

Rising Stars Directors Kim and Ellen pose with Grotonwood Camp Director Fred Mathieu in front of Grotonwood's chapel doors.

What's Rising Stars at Grotonwood, you ask? Oh, only the most exciting thing since, like, EVER.

(I mean, look at that picture. Have you ever seen a more epic summer-performing-arts-sleep-away-camp-promo-picture in your entire life? I didn't think so.)

Our partnership with Grotonwood has been in the works for a several months now, and we're thrilled that we can finally announce our innaugural season with them!

Grotonwood is a Christian camp and conference center that has been serving youth, families, and adults with special needs for over 50 years. The campus is located on the scenic shores of Lost Lake in Groton MA, and contains over 200 acres of forested land. Rising Stars at Grotonwood will combine our super-fun-and-high-quality performing arts camp with Grotonwood's traditional summer camp experience.

Let me say that again: this camp will combine PERFORMING ARTS AND SLEEP AWAY CAMP. If you've ever wanted a summer camp where you can do musical theater AND all that awesome outdoorsy stuff, then this is the camp for you! You'll truly experience the best of both worlds.

Imagine a day that goes something like this: after rising in the morning with your fellow cabin-mates, you eat a yummy breakfast in the Grotonwood dining hall and then head to a morning Rising Stars rehearsal. You'll sing, act, and dance your heart out to some awesome music (maybe something from Hairspray, or Footloose, or Seussical, or Annie). Afterward, you go outside and maybe head down to the lake for a swim. Or go kayaking. Or head to the forest for some archery. Or maybe you do some arts and crafts. After lunch and more fun afternoon activities, you come back to Rising Stars rehearsal and sing/act/dance with us some more (maybe this time it's something from Cinderella, or Fiddler on the Roof, or Oliver!). When the day is done, you'll go back to your cabin and talk with your cabin-mates about how awesome your day was, and how YOU JUST CAN'T WAIT FOR TOMORROW.

And of course, there's the show at the end of the week! We'll put on a musical revue featuring the numbers we've worked on all week, complete with lights, sound, and a real-life audience full of your adoring fans!

Throughout the week, you'll also have the option to experience real Christian fellowship through Grotonwood's chapel program and staff-led devotionals and discussions. You will also have many opportunities to deepen your new (or existing) friendships, and to learn more about God, yourself, and the beautiful world we live in. This unique spiritual aspect adds a truly positive and uplifting dimension to the camp.

I'm sure by now you are thinking, SIGN ME UP. Right?!?
